Citizens Medical Center and DeTar Hospital Navarro lost its power shortly after 9 a.m., Wednesday.

The outages are planned rotating outages under the direction of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, said Elgin Janssen, spokesman for AEP Texas.

Both hospitals are on backup generators and patients on critical care are fine, both hospital spokespersons said.

"The people that are critical will be taken care of," said Shannon Spree, spokesperson for Citizens. "We're always prepared for those situations."

The rotating blackouts will be seen throughout the day as Texas compensates for a generation shortage because of the extreme cold weather.
