The Parks and Recreation Department is excited about the next year and the opportunities for events and programs.
Regularly, groups call our office asking us to help promote their event or where to start. We, the Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks and Recreation Commission, are interested in finding out about your event that takes place in the parks. Events, such as 5K runs, tournaments and horseshoe throws, are great events to present to the commission.
Public events by nonprofits and other groups are invited to provide information to the commission and be televised on TV-15 during our parks commission meetings. The meetings are on the second Monday of each month except July and December.
If you are interested in attending our park commission, please contact the phone number or e-mail address below.
A few registration deadlines are looming. Spring softball and kickball registration will end at 5 p.m. Friday. This will be a 10-game season. Registration fee is $300. Games start on Feb. 28.
The Rose Pruning class originally scheduled for Feb. 3, was re-scheduled for Friday. If you are interested in learning proper rose pruning techniques, please call the parks office at the number listed below as soon as possible.
Reservation for pool parties will begin at 8 a.m. on March 1. The pool is available for parties from 7 to 10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We will take the reservations in the following order on March 1 only (beginning at 8 a.m.), first in person; second in a phone call based on time called. Cost for pool parties is $200 for up to 100 people.
A limited number of parties are available and they will go fast.
