Not rain, nor snow, nor even sleet will keep high school golfers off the course this weekend.
After being delayed a week because of weather hovering around freezing and a chance of snow, the Lauren Johnson Memorial Classic is set to tee off Friday morning at Victoria Country Club, with the first groups setting off at 10 a.m.
Victoria East girls golf coach Mike Smith said there were no hitches in the time change, and that no teams cancelled because of the delay.
The two-day event opens at Victoria Country Club on Friday morning before wrapping up the second day at Colony Creek Country Club on Saturday.
Among the favorites are Victoria East, which enters its second-half opener ranked ninth in Class 4A. They are led by sophomore Ali Cowan, who is ranked 10th individually in Class 4A.
