I see that Elizabeth Gilbert is coming to Victoria College in March, and I was wondering if there will be any opportunities to get my copy of her book, " Eat, Pray, Love" signed.

There are several events planned in conjunction with best-selling author Elizabeth Gilbert's presentation on Wednesday, March 30, at noon in the VC Fine Arts Auditorium. Gilbert fans will have more than one opportunity to hear her speak and get their books signed. For those who may not have a book, the VC Bookstore has copies available for sale at $15. VC students, faculty and staff may purchase the book for $8.25.

Victoria College is partnering with the Victoria Public Library to present the Victoria Reads program featuring Gilbert's memoir, "Eat, Pray, Love." VPL's Victoria Reads is an opportunity for the Victoria community to read and discuss the book in various group settings. In conjunction with the Victoria Reads event, Gilbert will be at the Leo J. Welder Center at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, for discussion and a book signing.

In addition to the Victoria Reads event, VC will conduct reading roundtables for VC students, faculty and staff that will consist of group discussion of the book and its themes, led by various individuals. Reading roundtables are scheduled on Wednesday, March 9, at noon in L2 of the VC/UHV Library and again at noon on Wednesday, March 23, in the same location.

On Monday, March 28, the Lyceum Committee and the VC Film Club are jointly sponsoring a screening of the award-winning film, "Fried Green Tomatoes," for VC students, faculty and staff. Much like "Eat, Pray, Love," this is a movie that also revolves around themes relating to food and self discovery. The screening will begin at 1 p.m. in Library L2.

You also may have seen that the Lyceum Committee and the Victoria Advocate are jointly sponsoring a photo essay contest. Participants are invited to share photos of food, along with a description of how that meal or dish inspires them. You can find contest details at www.victoriaadvocate.com.

If you're planning to attend the Lyceum lecture, please be aware that tickets are required for admittance. Tickets are free and may be picked up in the Marketing Office on campus at VC Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
