The Victoria school board is expected to a general and special election at its next board meeting Thursday evening.

Seats up for the general election are District 5, held by president Tami Keeling, and District 3 held by Lou Svetlik.

The election is May 14.

The separate special election will fill the District 1 seat, held by the Rev. Kevin Van Hook. He was appointed to fill the seat following the August death of James Murphy Sr.

The board will also make a second reading of a new social networking policy for teachers and staff.

The broad policy states teachers and staff who communicate with students through a social network like Facebook can only do so if the communication is directly related to their job.

District communications specialist Diane Boyett said the policy will probably be enforced on a reporting basis.
