A liquid release sent Invista employees into an emergency lockdown for several hours Friday.
During maintenance activities, the Invista plant experienced the event that required the activation of the plant's emergency response plan, said Amy Hodges, the plant's public affairs manager.
"There was no threat to the community," she said via e-mail.
No employees were injured.
The incident happened in the early afternoon and was over at about 7 p.m., Hodges said.
Dena Edwards lives in Crescent Valley, which is about a mile away from the plant.
Edwards is worried the liquid release is affecting her and her family.
"I was feeling discomfort in my chest," she said, a nervous tone in her voice. "I just don't know if it's the anxiety from hearing about it."
An investigation into the event will be conducted to determine what happened, Hodges added.
