A liquid release that left Invista on emergency lockdown Friday remains under investigation, said Amy Hodges, the plant's regional public affairs manager. It is still too early to know specific details of the release, however.
"These investigations are very detailed and thorough, and take time," she said in the Monday e-mail. "It would be premature and inappropriate to speculate on specific details to ensure we are providing accurate information."
Throughout the event, the plant activated emergency response procedures to ensure the equipment involved was secured and that material was properly managed, she said.
The community was never at risk, Hodges said, and the plant took measures to make sure employees remained safe.
"We also made timely notifications to the appropriate regulatory agencies," she said in the e-mail.
Attempts to contact representatives with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Monday were not successful.
