If you are going to do "God's" work and pass judgement, then make sure you have the full spectrum of information before you do so?

Well it was God's work. He is omnipotent. I am just glad he didn't have me molested.

  • If you are a Doctor/nurse and you see injuries that "could be abuse" you report it. If you don't you are helping the wrong party. Mrs. Worley is in a position of trust with our youth and should not have that position if she does not understand the law. It is sad that Mrs. Worley has been harmed by a "simple" mistake but this was in no way a mistake. It was breaking the law.

  • At least some of you have some sense. What I know for a fact is, that Mrs. Worley is a great person! What do you know about this that is a fact? Heresay and what little you read in the Advocate. If someone is guilty of this then by all means hang em out to dry, but get the story straight first.

  • It is interesting what the Advocate has reported from the beginning. If you are going to do God's work and pass judgement, then make sure you have the full spectrum of information before you do so. Mrs. Worley did do her job, that is what is not reported and it is sad that the WHOLE truth has not been looked into and reported. If what has been reported so far was the whole truth, do you people really believe the grand jury would have thrown the felony out!!! Come on people, don't judge and come to conclusions unless you get the whole truth, which sadly will probably never be heard. Why doesn't someone look into the the sad excuse of local law enforcement, pretty sure that would be interesting!
Also, I'm pretty sure that the statement saying she told the child to record the incident is completely taken out of context and not what took place at all. GET THE FULL FACTUAL STORY PLEASE, BOTH SIDES AND NOT JUST ONE!!!!!

  • familyman1122--the 'rules' you are looking for are found in the Texas Family Code. Here is a link http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us...
Scroll down to 'Sec. 261.101 PERSONS REQUIRED TO REPORT; TIME TO REPORT'. It very clear as to the procedure.

Ms. Worley has been in education a long time. She and every other professional knows the reporting requirements.

For all who don't want to check the TFC, it says ANY PERSON with a resonable suspicion shall report.

  • Does anyone have a copy of the regulations pertaining to this instance? The I.S.D.'s or the States regulations. What do they say to do when this happens. There are laws in place to handle this situation. No matter how many good things you do, just one mistake can erase all the good. What if this child had gone back for the recording and been killed in the attempt? I want to see what is said at the trial. Keep the teacher on paid leave cause she is just accused and not found guilty yet. Her actions may not have been the best and she took the law into her own hands. Yes she needs to be punished but not taken out of teaching or put into prison. I think she and the other teachers need to go through a training program to handle this situation if it should arise again. Let her have her day in court before you make comments on guilt or innocense.

  • Good Person bad person it does'nt matter she messed up bad. She needs to pay. If it was your kid you would'nt be worried if they were good people or bad people. If this is the best she can do then she needs to be taken out of the school.

  • appearantly you ppl are really misinformed... The fact is she is a great person and did her job. Frankly I am disappointed in ppl who think that news given by the advocate is Gods' word and all the truth.. You were only given the information that one little reporter could find while riffling thru the courthouse in Goliad.. I find it to be absolutly pathetic for ppl to jump to conclusions before waiting til the entire story comes out to make their final judgements. Do you really think this woman is that guilty if the school kept her on the payroll? They would have fired her immediatly and started their own procedings against her..

  • I am from Berclair and i know all to well how the children from this small community are "thrown under the bus". It's as if the kids don't matter. We were given a title for as long as i can remember, "Berclair Bandits". Now, how do you think that makes a child feel? I am 28 years old and I am in the medical field. Still today when I am asked where I am from, its like "What? How and why are you workin here?" or automatically " Berclair Bandit huh?" Now, if this child was from Goliad or other surrounding community (who attends GISD), I guarantee this would not have happened. The very first allegation the child made would have been taken seriously and actions would have been taken immediately.

  • Mrs. Worley did more than make a bad mistake...she sent that child back home to her abuser and basiccly told her to wait until it happens again and video it.

That will be just one more nightmare to add to the child's already long list of nightmares of the events that led here there. Absolutely rediculous. If a child cries for help, it's quite simple, help!

  • "Mrs. Worley is a good person. She just made a bad mistake."

I agree with vet43! And yes, I'm "forreal". There are plenty of pedophiles out there that have done good for the community just to cover up what is truly happening. The bad does outweigh the good, I don't care how many thousands of good things there are, one bad can ruin several lives.

She let that child get hurt to "prove it". That's not her job, her job is to do what is in the best intrest of the child, the child was just needlessly hurt one more time AND the system failed her.

As for the DA Michael Sheppard, he and I both know all to well how often this happens to a child. When a child makes that kind of an outcry, please, please LISTEN. I only wish that more people that just stood by and did not report allegations of abuse were prosecuted. What are we telling our children if we don't?

  • Telling a child to video themselves being sexual abused is way past a mistake. There is something about this that just makes no sense. You are told by a child he/she is being sexual abused and you want proof. What is heart breaking is there are people that can not see the fact that the child is being treated like a side story to this horrible issue.

  • VA, just for the record, the Grand Jury dosen't hear misdemeanor cases.

  • Mrs. Worley is a good person. She just made a bad mistake. She has paid for it so I hope she gets back to helping kids like she has for years. No one ever hears about all the good a person does, just the negative. Well I know for a fact she has done a thousand times more good than bad.
