The Victoria County United Way has surpassed it's goal for the 2010 campaign.

The campaign brought in $854,880, topping the goal of $822,000, "because of our community's generosity," said Gary Worsham, campaign chairman.

Worsham also applauded the volunteers who communicated the United Way message to the community.

"These folks were amazing to work with, and I am grateful for each and every one of their efforts," he said.

"We appreciate the time, talents and resources of all our volunteers and contributors to the 2010 Campaign," added Kelly Park, United Way board chairman. "Thank you for making a profound difference in our community."

The campaign now transitions to grant proposal reviews for the 18 agencies served by the Victoria County United Way.

"The needs in our community continue to be large and the challenges are many. However, it is clear that as a result of the many gifts to our United Way, we are able to partner with these agencies and address those challenges," said Omar Rachid, community investment committee chairman.

"It's not too late to give," said Clifford Grimes, executive director. "Every gift counts. By giving you are helping Victoria County United Way meet the needs of our community."
