Just because a band is unsigned, doesn't mean they aren't talented.
It was that sentiment that helped launch the Windows on Texas Music Festival in Fredericksburg, which is now in its eighth year. Sponsored by Texas Rebel Radio, the festival spotlights Texas music and Texas musicians and tries to expose unsigned artists to the music industry, festival founder Jan Fritz said in a news release.
"Throw open the shades, and open up this window on all of this fantastic talent that is here," he added in the news release. "The whole idea was opening up a window on all the Texas talent. So it's more than just musical talent, it's culinary talents, and the wineries and the art galleries - just different talent that hasn't had that window exposed on it."
Starting on Jan. 13 and ending with a Sunday Night Wrap-Up show on Jan. 16, the festival will feature performances at various locations throughout Fredericksburg. Amid the musical lineup are the Jim Halfpenny Band, Lost July, The Charlie Montague Band, Jon Napier Band, T.J. Broscoff, The Ashley Dixon Band, Trent Turner & the Moontowers, Mario Flores and Madison Monroe. The venues include Auslander Restaurant & Biergarten, Hondo's on Main, Hilltop Cafe, Red Barons and Becker Vineyards.
The Sunday night show will be from 5-10 p.m. at The Crossroads in Fredericksburg and feature Elliott Park, Madison Monroe and Bad Rodeo.
