  • I was informed by close friends of the family that Ricardo was reported missing to Yoakum police only after the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office found the truck parked on the county road(outside the city) where his body was later found and since everything was suspected of happening there out in the county it made it the Lavaca County Sheriff's Department's jurisdiction and responsibility and the family was told that the area had been thoroughly searched.

  • This is NOT gang related, the people that knew him know it had nothing to do with that. He would've been found sooner if the owners of the ranch would've allowed the family to look for him that first weekend he went missing, now hopefully they find enough evidence to get whoever did this. If anyone knows anything I think they should help the family out and make an anonymous phone call to the police. They will need all the help they can get, they couldn't even find his body and he was only 700 yds away from his truck.

  • @knight how can you say that. you must be the one to know something for posting stupid stuff like that. i just hope you never have to go through what this family is going through. i would have did the same thing to search for a loved one.

  • My prayers go out to the Grifaldo Family. It is really sad that they had to do this on their own....I hope this never happens, but just imagine if it was a 10 year old little white girl missing....I'll bet we'd have all kinds of action going on: search parties, dogs, helicopters, more cops than you could count....THE WORKS! Just goes to show you what this family is up against! May God help your soul find rest, and bring those responsible for this evil act to justice ASAP so your family can heal. You will be missed!!!

  • starbor--you hit the bulls eye----i agree with you--- have youll noticed that when a city or county cop passes on your side while driving they just keep staring and even second look just to make you nervous for no reason.
in the article it stated that they only have one deputy working in the evenings--well guess what if youll go to halletsville during a child support hearings theres usually three there present which i think is not necessary--i would agrre if court was in session for a major crime trial but for child support hearing -no way---back to the subject of this young man---may he rest in peace and i dont know the family but i send my condolences and pray with them but it is hard to accept a love one is no longer here.......MAY GOD HELP THEM IN THIS DIFFICULT TIME .

  • So let me see if I get this story straight,, this young man walks 700 yards in the dark ,throught brush, finds a tree in the dark ,an hangs himself,,in the dark,,something just don,t add up,,sounds like deputy dog ,an barney doing the investigation,,

  • @cowboywrangler2008 those are my thoughts exactly..

    January 11, 2011 at 9:16 a.m.
  • Come on people, this is a lost life, dont you think the family just might be reading some of this. this is a horrible thing that happened and the police dept. dropped the ball big time. Yards, feet, inches... does it really matter? To this family my heart goes to you and i hope the Yoakum police dept. now steps in a solves this case for you and hopefully you wont have to do that too.

  • The police and sheriff department have enough on their hands, giving all those traffic tickets to raise revenue is tough work. money, money, money.

  • My prayers go the this young mans family. Come on Yoakum, this family needs some help they already had to find their loved on on their own.

    January 11, 2011 at 8:37 a.m.
  • It must not have been very difficult. I’m sure his family doesn’t have the training that officers have and have never searched for a body. So how is it that they found him not long after they started their search?

  • cowboywrangler* I agree with u 100% Something aint right there! My heart and prayers goes out to the family! May he rest in peace!

  • TXWADER! Half a mile you say is 2100ft well the body was found 700ft no where near 1/2 a mile!! Lets say it was your brother im sure you would walk the world in search for him! No disrespect to the PD but you have to admitt its just so sad that they couldnt search more then 1/2 mile before they gave up!!! Not even that cause its less than 1/2 a mile do the math!!

    January 11, 2011 at 8:20 a.m.
  • tx wader that is why it is called an opinion they are entitled to it. put yourself in this families shoes and i can almost bet that you would feel the same way, and then i guess your brain would be engaged in some anger as well.

    January 11, 2011 at 8:07 a.m.
  • 700 yards...2100 feet almost a half mile. Have any of you been to the woods where his body was found? No? Any of you ever looked for a body in the woods? No?

Then talk some more about the SO there being lazy.

Man all of you experts who don't have a clue but who like to toss out their opinions need to engage your brains before you type.

  • I must apologize I mean some of the local police was not updated about the case.

    January 11, 2011 at 5:14 a.m.
  • Debby33 and Noyb.

Both of you are right. The county does not have man power, they have only a few deputys. Most of them work during the day. Only one deputy works the nights. What surprise me is that the local city police forces in the county was not told.

  • My heart goes out to this family for having to do this themselves and finding him. I can't imagine what they are going through having seen there loved one like that..If they could get into the densley wooded area why couldn't the other trained professionals do that.No one should have to ever go through this..Now they need to get on the girl and her boyfriend being that she was the last to see him and her boyfriend having had an altercation with him.In all this is what i think..

  • I think that his family is well aware of the ineptness of this another other law enforcement entities but this is NOT the place to be discussing that.

  • How terrible, I have family in law enforcement & have worked in law enforcement myself...this is plain laziness. The victims body was found only 700 yards from his vehicle, how can local law enforcement expect the public to believe that they are doing their job.

It's scary how they obviously dismissed all if the signs of foul play and the family's concerns. My heart goes out to the family and I hope that justice is served. I wonder is the family is expected to solve this case too.

    January 10, 2011 at 8:40 p.m.
  • Makes no sense...why couldnt a better search be done by the people who are suppose to be trained to do so ? The Sherriffs office...The prro man could have been laid to rest by now and his family and friends have closure

    January 10, 2011 at 7:55 p.m.
  • How absolutely horrible for this family. My prayers go out to them and hopes that their wounded hearts will heal.
