College Q&A: New website for VC

I noticed that Victoria College's website is completely different now. My question is about the "Live Support Online" button. Does that really take me to a live person on campus? What can I get help with if I use the live chat feature?

Yes, Victoria College launched its newly redesigned website back in November with the main focus of the redesign to provide better service to prospective students and the community.

The new website was created as a result of months of research into the way users - especially prospective students - look for information about VC's areas of study, degree plans, transfer programs, important dates, financial aid and other college services.

Also included are various options for making contact with a college employee who can provide immediate answers for website users who need information in a timely manner. Anyone who has a question about admissions, testing, registration, financial aid or any other college service can now chat online with friendly, knowledgeable college staff.

The first steps in redesigning the website and adding customer service enhancements included consulting with focus groups of students and other website users. Armed with that information, a committee was formed to help structure the site from a new perspective and streamline information access for prospective students and the community.

The new website still has information about VC, areas of study and how to get started, along with information about VC's locations and useful maps. But now, access to information regarding the college's programs and courses, transfer programs, workforce training, continuing education and high school and GED preparation has been updated and streamlined.

The new site also provides a comprehensive calendar of events and an all-new directory of VC's faculty, staff and administration. Users can access more information about upcoming events and read all the latest VC news right from the homepage.

In addition to live chat, other customer service features include one-click access to the Pirate Portal for students, faculty and staff and one-click access to the official VC blog, Facebook fan page and the VC Twitter feed. There is even a link on the new page for a campus tour video that is coming soon.

The website redesign now more accurately reflects the educational, cultural and social opportunities that VC provides for its students and the community. Additionally, customer service enhancements emphasize that VC is focused on student success and conveys VC's friendly and supportive learning environment for all students.
