A student at Patti Welder Middle School accused a teacher of assaulting him, prompting the school to put the teacher on administrative leave.
The teacher has since been reinstated and is back in the classroom, said Diane Boyett, Victoria school district's spokesperson.
"Any time an allegation of wrongdoing is made against a teacher, there will be an investigation conducted," Boyett said.
Patti Welder administration conducted the investigation in accordance with district guidelines, she said. The executive director of human resources and the superintendent reviewed the steps taken in the investigation and agreed with its findings.
The alleged incident took place in a gym on either Friday or Monday, Boyett said.
Boyett said she's not aware of any problems with the teacher in the past.
"The teacher is a veteran teacher in our school district."
The parent requested a police investigation in addition to the school's investigation, Boyett said.
An incident report was not immediately available Wednesday night.
Because it's a personnel issue, Boyett said she was unable to provide further details.
