THUMBS-UP

Thumbs-up to the workers. On this morning of Jan. 9, the Vanderbilt-LaSalle areas, as well as Bloomington, Placedo and Telferner experienced tornadic winds, which caused much damage to many of our family members', friends' and neighbors' homes. Many residents lost electricity. The recorded messages at Victoria Electricity kept us informed of the repairs. Late tonight, the repairmen are still out trying to restore electricity. May God keep you all safe as our electrical power keeps us all warm.

Colleen, Vanderbilt

Thumbs up on the newspaper delivery man who, through a rainstorm and strong winds, still delivered my newspaper. Such devotion to duty should be recognized by those in nice warm offices during harsh weather conditions.

Joseph, Palacios

Thumbs-up to Dr. Culberson with The Navarro Small Animal Clinic for always being a kind and caring person who puts others before his own needs. You do a great job, Doc.

Cristal, Nursery

THUMBS-DOWN

Thumbs-down on the twilight rapist of elderly women, who, based on the "prima facie" evidence, didn't evolve much since Neanderthal times.

Joe, Palacios

Thumbs-down to Union Pacific in Bloomington. What a dirty little secret. Keeping the tracks on 185 blocked for 27 minutes plus. I hope I never need emergency medical attention.

Kelly, Bloomington

Thumbs-down to Emillio's thumbs-down. Try using your remote, and set the TV to wide screen.

David, Victoria

Thumbs-down to the city of Victoria for the ill-placed and small-lettered "hours" sign at the Huvar Street recycling center. Also, it looks like the city could spend some of the motel tax to fix Huvar Street into a first-class street, rather than a narrow lane.

Ray, Victoria
