Two transported after wreck

A 1999 Ford Escort sits in the yard on the corner of Ben Jordan Street and Loma Vista Ave., where it landed after being t-boned by a Jeep Cherokee on Saturday afternoon.

Two people were transported after a collision on Saturday afternoon at Ben Jordan Street and and Loma Vista Avenue.

A gold 2001 Jeep Cherokee was travelling south on Ben Jordan Street when the 21-year-old male driver ran a red light at about 2:30 p.m. The Cherokee struck a blue 1999 Ford Escort travelling west on Loma Vista Avenue, t-boning the vehicle. The Escort spun on the slick streets before coming to rest in the yard of a house on the corner of Ben Jordan and Loma Vista. The 49-year-old male driver of the Escort was transported to Citizens Medical Center, complaining of back pains, according to police. The 56-year-old passenger in the Escort was also transported with side and chest pains. The driver and the 19-year-old male passenger in the Cherokee were uninjured. The driver of the Cherokee was issued a citation for driving without a license. No other citations were given.
