Shiner St. Paul, Faith Academy girls No. 2 and 3 in latest TABC poll

After picking up its first loss of the season to rival Shiner St. Paul, the Faith Academy girls fell back to No. 3 for small private schools in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches rankings.

The Lady Cardinals moved up to No. 2, with Sherman Texoma Christian ahead of both.

Sherman Texoma Christian is the defending TAPPS 2A state champ, with a win over the Lady Cardinals for the title.

The Victoria East and West girls did not earn a spots on the rankings, but West did do considerable damage to Floresville in this week's rankings.

The Jaguars, 22-4, fell all the way back from No. 6 to 17th in Class 4A. The Warriors handed the Jaguars a 65-60 loss last Tuesday to move to the top of District 30-4A along with Victoria East. The Titans take on Floresville on the road Tuesday.

Other girls teams receiving rankings were Yoakum (Class 3A, No. 15) and Louise (Class 1A, Div. I, No. 11).

For the boys, Hallettsville continues its dominant run, ranked No. 7 overall in Class 2A by the TABC. The Brahmas (19-4) had opened the season with the top ranking. The Yorktown boys continue their impressive season also, with a record of 17-3 and ranked No. 13 in Class 1A, Div. I.

Also ranked for the boys in the Crossroads was Austwell-Tivoli, which is ranked No. 11 in Class 1A, Div. II, and Waelder, which cracked the rankings at No. 25 in Class 1A, Div. II.
