Day trippin': Plano Sci-Fi Expo to present "Women of Sci-Fi"

OTHER THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA:This weekend in Dallas, the Dallas Convention Center will host the NFL Experience. Featuring more than 50 interactive games and attractions, there will also be a football card show, autograph sessions, free clinics and chats with NFL coaches. The event begins Friday and ends Sunday.

What's better than a sci-fi convention? How about a sci-fi convention devoted solely to the hot women of sci-fi?
This weekend, the Sci-Fi Expo in Plano will present the "Women of Sci-Fi" at the Plano Center. Among the special guest stars are Morena Baccarin, star of the TV series "V" and "Firefly" and the movie "Serenity." Also appearing are Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff from "Battlestar Galactica," Nichelle Nichols, who played Uhura on the original "Star Trek" and Yvonne Craig, who played Batgirl on the "Batman" TV series and Marta on "Star Trek."
Among the artists who will be on hand are Russell Walks, Lawrence Reynolds and Cal Slayton. Guest speaker Daryl Frazetti will be giving a presentation of "Cultural and Genre Contributions of Women Working in Science Fiction," according to the event's website, www.scifiexpo.com.
Hours for the expo are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $10 per day with kids 10 and under getting in for free. A Priority Pass costs $20 and a V.I.P. Pass is $50.
