  • You know, if I thought someone was taking advantage of their position and using taxpayer dollars for their personal gain, the best way to deal with it would be to post anonymous comments on the local paper's website. There's no way I would think about suing or going to a higher authority.

  • The city wants to help attract students, I believe it's called, "Campaign Victoria: Supporting the Dream". We attract students, but how many stay? Persons staying in Victoria is as evident as the NEWS 25 crew, how many have come, gotten experience n GONE.
The majority or if not all of our local higher position are filled by outsiders.
A little community whose leaders want the general population to subsidize their business profits. IF you ask all the "other business" that are Not in the main stream of the downtown project, they will all tell you the only one's benefiting from this project are the business owners.
The advocate does keeps exposing this corruption, However how many have been convicted, and the ones that do, only get a slap on the hand.

  • everyone wants nice parks and services, but no one wants to pay for it

as for vc and uh-v, we need more locals enrolled and finishing their degrees

  • Home n Tex and Pat Smurf,

Explain to me how you can cut taxes and increase services. More services equals more cost unless you cut something to pay for the new services.

parks and recreation need to get their siiii together and create new parks, new activities for families; thus, creating more pride in community and a healthier image for Vic as a family friendly and happening place.
the police need to provide safer streets and stop the pr spin on how awesome their marketing is and just hire more cops
the taxes need to decrease inorder to draw more residents and businesses.

Homeytx is right! Cut taxes in half and fix all the roads, schoosl, sewers, bridges, parks, police, fire, parks, streets, houses, cars and this city will shine! I'll bet we could double our population in months!

mr justtxpay you have done a good job of pointing out the corruption, why stop now. slush funds are illegal! you have pointed out the cities illegal slush funds before!

under the table parking lot deal! not sure what you mean but that sounds illegal.

i luv it when u call dem names! funny stuff! we should meet so we can discuss bringing all thes charges against them! I will email you soon.

    keep up the good work!

  • You did not get the memo last night? SOTU address...

    January 26, 2011 at 3:32 p.m.
  • Uh.....Texas isn't part of the United States anymore???? When did that happen?

    January 26, 2011 at 3:28 p.m.
  • Yes, cut taxes but provide more services...that seems logical.

The park situation is an issue, but I think there are other issues to consider as well. For example, the city wants to help attract students? How about someone (private sector) creating some places for them to go/hang out. Or, look at the number of available apartments in the city, where are these students supposed to live? It's hard to attract a particular population when these things are not available/in place.

Victoria is awful! As long as the advocate keeps exposing this corruption we will win! They are all corrupt! I'll bet jsutatxpyer will win in the end, she will give them all a BLACK EYE!

Homeytx is right! Cut taxes in half and fix all the roads, schoosl, sewers, bridges, parks, police, fire, parks, streets, houses, cars and this city will shine! I'll bet we could double our population in months!

  • well said to my previous commenter!!!

yes, having moved to Victoria I have to say that this city needs alot of work:

parks and recreation need to get their siiii together and create new parks, new activities for families; thus, creating more pride in community and a healthier image for Vic as a family friendly and happening place.

the police need to provide safer streets and stop the pr spin on how awesome their marketing is and just hire more cops

the taxes need to decrease inorder to draw more residents and businesses

we need fresh, NEW council members who are educated and care about Victoria as a vibrant and growing city, and stop using it as a good ol boy social club.
