Dr. Ty Meyer does not want cancer patients to feel alone - because they're not.

Meyer and two other experts will lead a participant-guided presentation at Citizens Medical Center's first cancer support forum.

Meyer will talk about palliative care.

Dr. Bruce Bauknight, chairman of the hospital's cancer committee and Dr. C. Leilani Vidales, a hospital pathologist, will also lead discussion.

"I think there are so many cancer patients in the Victoria area that this is a program that is going to bring a lot of awareness and help people feel not so alone," Meyer said.

Meyer hopes this event will at least become an annual event, he said.

Topics include coping with the physical, emotional and lifestyle effects of having cancer.

What to ask your doctor and understanding a specific cancer will also be discussed.
