Property Value QuestionsThe Victoria County Tax Office only collects taxes. If there is any question about the value of your property or exemptions, contact the Victoria Central Appraisal District, 2805 N. Navarro St., Suite 300 or call 361-576-3621.

Monday is the deadline to pay 2010 property taxes without penalty and interest.

Payment may be made in person at the Victoria County Tax Office, 205 N. Bridge St., Suite 101, or mailed as long the envelope is postmarked by Jan. 31.

A drop box is also available at the tax office building for after hours on Monday.

Beginning Tuesday penalty and interest will accrue at 7 percent.

If a taxpayer cannot pay the taxes in full, partial payments are accepted and encouraged, said Rena Scherer, Victoria County Tax Assessor/Collector. Penalty and interest would then apply only to the balance.

"Monday will be a extremely busy day so the phones may not be answered quickly and we ask for your patience," said Scherer. "The best thing to do is mail your tax payment. If you want a receipt back, enclose a self-stamped envelope. If paying in person please bring your statement. That will help with the paying process."

Tax office hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 361-576-3671 for more information.
