Koch companies employ and support other jobs of more than 203,000 people across the United States, Koch announced Wednesday.
Harrah Analytics recently researched the Wichita, Kan.-based Koch Industries Inc. and determined the company employs more than 50,000 people in 46 states and the District of Columbia. It also purchases goods and services from local businesses, while employees spend money on food, shelter and more.
In Texas, Koch companies provide 32,960 direct and indirect jobs.
Victoria's Invista plant is a subsidiary of Koch Industries. In October, Invista announced plans to add more than 100 new employees at its Victoria, Orange and LaPorte sites. The company already employed about 2,000 Texas employees and contractors.
Historically, Koch companies invest at least 90 percent of earnings back into the businesses, so they can continue to grow.
Since 2003, Koch companies, which include Georgia-Pacific, Flint Hills Resources, Invista and Koch Industries, completed about $32 billion in acquisitions and investments, as well as nearly $11 billion in capital expenditures.
