Spoetzl Brewery, maker of the legendary Shiner family of beers, has donated $10,000 to the San Antonio Area Chapter of the Red Cross for the Red Cross Japanese Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund, according to a news release from the company.
The fund assists Japanese communities devastated by the major earthquake and tsunami that struck on March 11.
"You don't hear as much about the disaster in Japan anymore, but there are still many towns - lots of them small towns like Shiner - that are still struggling to recover," said Spoetzl Brewmaster Jimmy Mauric. "We want to do what we can to help them."
Mauric presented a check to Michael Bennett, chief executive officer of the San Antonio Area Red Cross Chapter, with the best wishes from the town of Shiner and The Spoetzl Brewery.
