Platinum Pawn & Jewelry to open

Platinum Pawn & Jewelry will open July 18 at 2310 N. Navarro St. Owned by Kevin McCarty, the shop will employ four people and offer higher-end items such as pre-owned Rolex watches, sports memorabilia, diamond jewelry and more. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 361-894-8978. A website is also in the works.   • Dyslexia is not a good thing in a sign maker. I hope the store bought the sign with a warranty rather than "As Is."

  • The guys installing the signage DO know - I saw them installing the signs and stopped to tell them! It was some sign company out of Beeville. I also told them that it's spelled wrong on the door.

    Dunno, I don't think I would patronize a "higher end" pawnshop that cannot even spell "jewelry".

    Funny thing is, it's spelled correctly on the left hand side of the sign. I would think that either the sign company (or whoever they contracted out to do the signage) would have caught it, or, at the very least, the owners of the pawn shop would have noticed.
