Yoakum man arrested, charged after shooting incident
A Yoakum man was arrested early Saturday morning after a shooting incident that remains under investigation.
Alan Gonzales, 18, was arrested about 3:40 a.m. in the 400 block of Plaza Street, said Lee Campbell, Yoakum Police Department investigator.
Campbell said details are sketchy, but the incident reportedly involved a fight and as many as 10 shots being fired from two different weapons.
A .45 caliber pistol was recovered. The other weapon, a 9 millimeter, was not found.
Campbell said that when officers arrived, Gonzales fled on foot, initially hiding in a doghouse then behind a couch in a house. A Taser was used to subdue Gonzales when he refused to obey officers' orders, said Campbell.
Gonzales was initially charged with attempted capital murder with a bond set at $250,000. The charge has been reduced to deadly conduct, a third degree felony, said Campbell.
