Business continues after truck hits front door

July 14, 2011 at 2:14 a.m.

It's "business as usual" at the Pinto Bean on Rio Grande Street after a truck ran into the front entrance on Saturday. The Pinto Bean is proceeding with repairs though they have not heard from the insurance company of the truck driver.

The Pinto Bean Restaurant, 202 E. Rio Grande St., continues to operate after a truck ran into the front door Saturday morning.

Wesley Hodge Jenkins, 64, of Victoria made an improper start from the parking lot and the right front portion of his tan Ford 150 struck the building at 9:32 a.m., according to a police report.

Victoria Police Cadet Candy Pratt, who investigated the crash, found Jenkins at fault but no citations were issued.

Yessica Castillo, a spokeswoman for Pinto Bean, said the damages, including the front door, the cash register and a fish tank, totaled $5,000.

The Pinto Bean has continued serving customers. Although restaurant owners have not heard from Jenkins' insurance company, they will proceed with repairs, Castillo said.
