The Reserve, a new 100-unit apartment complex, is on its way to Victoria.

Co-owned by Nancy Garner, of Woolson Real Estate, and Victoria businessman James McHaney, the complex will sit on nine acres just off Zac Lentz Parkway, according to a company news release.

The property is adjacent to The Whittington Apartments, also owned by Garner and McHaney.

Plans call for modern, green energy-efficient appliances, fixtures and lighting, according to the news release.

Units will include 9-foot ceilings, granite counter tops, ceramic tile showers, imitation hardwood plank flooring and walk-in closets, among other amenities. Pre-wired Internet and cable connections, as well as options for colors and decor, will be standard, according to the release.

The complex will include private garages, a garden-styled courtyard common area and green space with trees along the Spring Creek banks.

It is too early to know what rental rates will run, McHaney said, adding the complex will include one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans.

McHaney said he and Garner began the project because they saw a need in Victoria.

"You can't get a motel room, and apartments are hard to come by," he said. "There's a very obvious demand."

Ground should break in early fall, according to the release, and construction will likely take 12 to 18 months. Pre-leasing will be available.

The addition has been part of the master plan since The Whittington first opened in 1998, Garner said. It has been in the active planning stages for about two years.

"There was a lot of preparation work, and then we wanted to make sure the market was just right," she said.

Garner did not release what the complex will cost, citing competitive reasons.

She said the team looks forward to getting the venture off the ground.

"We've been looking forward to it," she said. "We're excited."
