Texas country singer Josh Abbott headlines Victoria's first BootFest, the city announced Tuesday.

The free downtown festival will be Oct. 21 and 22 and will include a variety of events.

A barbecue cook-off, Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament and boot making demonstrations all join the mix, while the younger crowd can visit the Radio Disney kid's corral.

On the music front, Abbott headlines at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 22. Texas country artists Wade Bowen, JB & the Moonshine Band and Whiskey Myers are also scheduled to perform.

Abbott said he is thrilled to play the show, which will be free to the public, and said his group intends to offer "one awesome show."

"Hopefully, we'll walk away with some new fans and new friends," said Abbott, whose songs include "My Texas," featuring Pat Green, "She's Like Texas" and "Oh, Tonight," featuring Kacey Musgraves.

A fireworks show launched from the top of 12-story One O'Connor Plaza will follow Abbott's performance.

The two-day BootFest will feature food, Texas music and fun, Victoria Mayor Will Armstrong said in the release.

"Boots, barefooted or something in between, Texans know how to have a good time when music is playing and the smell of barbecue is in the air," he said.
