One person injured in wreck at intersection of Crestwood, Ben Jordan

July 21, 2011 at 2:21 a.m.

Victoria Fire Department workers carry Tanya Resendez, 53, on a stretcher into an ambulance at the scene of an accident on E Crestwood Drive and N. Ben Jordan Street. Victoria Police said it appears Resendez was driving a GMC SUV east on Crestwood when she was struck by a Ford Focus traveling south on Ben Jordan. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

One person was transported to Citizens Medical Center after a two-car collision Thursday on Crestwood Drive and Ben Jordan Street.

Crystal Barela, 31, of Victoria, was traveling south on Ben Jordan Street in a gold Ford Focus and struck Tanya Resendez, 53, of Victoria, who was traveling east on Crestwood Drive. The wreck occurred about 2:15 p.m., said Victoria police patrol officer Brad Hlavac.

Resendez was transported to Citizens Medical Center, but a hospital spokesman said they had no record of her being treated there.

None of the passengers from the Focus were transported to the hospital.

"Both drivers state that they stopped at the stop sign," Hlavac said. "But due to the damage to the Focus, it appears that the Ford Focus ran the stop sign."

Hlavac said the collision is still under investigation, and citations have not been issued.
