A Bloomington School District maintenance worker was stung by 12 bees while mowing the Placedo Elementary School campus about 10 a.m. Monday.

The bees weren't in a hive but were on a branch or pole when they attacked the worker, Justin Adamson, said Superintendent Delores Warnell.

EMS transported Adamson to the hospital as a precaution. He was released and returned to work a few hours later, Warnell said.
