Generals to play 2 Friday night

With Tropical Storm Don whirling toward the Coastal Bend region the Victoria Generals (10-7, 22-24 overall) preemptively rescheduled Saturday’s contest with the Brazos Valley Bombers (7-10, 22-24 overall).

General Manager Blake Koch announced Thursday that the contest will be moved to Friday for a doubleheader between the two teams.

First pitch for the doubleheader will be at 5 p.m. The second contest is slated to start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Both contests will be seven innings.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Don is expected to make landfall late Friday evening, after the expected conclusion of the doubleheader. Victoria has as up to a 40 percent chance of sustaining tropical storm force winds within the next four days.

Scout Night, which was slated for Saturday will be held at another date. Fans with tickets to the July 30 contest will have those honored at any other home contest, including Thursday’s game against the Alexandria Aces.

    I found out why the thing seems to have taken a more southerly course and we won't be getting much rain. There's a lady here at work who "prayed to God" to not let it rain because her granddaughter is having a pool party for her birthday. She came in this moring and said her prayers were ansered! If we don't get any rain out of this, it's HER fault!
