Church holds prayer service for those who cannot attend Perry's The Response

John Wesley United Methodist Church in Victoria is hosting a prayer event Saturday, Aug. 6 for those who cannot attend a similar event organized by Gov. Rick Perry on the same day in Houston.

John Wesley's the Rev. David King plans to model the local prayer service after Perry's The Response: A Call To Prayer For A Nation In Crisis, praying for the United States, its leaders and citizens. King's service does not feature guest speakers, however.

John Wesley's prayer service will be held from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. and is open to the public. There is no cost to attend.

Perry's The Response, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Reliant Stadium, 2 Reliant Park in Houston. There is no cost to attend Perry's event, but attendees must register online.
