  • LOL Bulington is not just a coat store! "Myvu" Next time you got to Houston shopping take the time to go to Katy Mills and see what Burlington has to offer it is not "Just a stupid coat factory" LOL

  • Looks like all the prospective new stores suck. We don't need a stupid coat factory! I can see why the present owners are losing money. They obviously have not been around much to see what stores occupy successful malls. But, doesnt matter to me, I will continue to buy my underwear here in V town, then head to Houston for real shopping and dining! Makes for a fun day anyway.

  • Wish it was a Whole Foods or a Trader Joe's.

  • Kittycat the old mall is Catholic church property and they evicted everyone out of it so they can renovate it for their school. I was told just last week at the Victoria Mall by the GNC store as I was walking I questioned the security about the renovations and they said that the stores on one side of the mall is moving to the other and then Burlington was taking the side from fye to zales. The janitor walked by and confirmed that. But it could just be speculation or rumors. I just wish it were true. TJ Max sucks.

  • I feel bad for the defensive driving class owner. I took the class the day they told him he had 30 days to vacate. He was visibly upset. He said they told him they had no other vacant spots for him on the wings, and since he wasn't a real business, that he couldn't move his class on the main strip. I believe he had been in the mall for almost 20 years.
If the outcome has changed other than what I know, someone please correct me...

  • scorpio there has been that rumor for several years that a Burlington was going to open up in the old mall. So I don't know if that is true.

  • it would be nice if they renovated the 'backside' of the mall, it simply looks horrible

  • kittycat,

People who do not like shopping in oulet stores and hassling with the general public, will still go to the upper end stores for their clothes. I really never look at the clothes at Ross, because it's such a hassle to try them on, and frankly, I don't like trying on clothes that so many people have had on already. There are usually makeup stains on them, or small rips, or something.
But, for people who really need to save money on clothes, those kinds of stores will draw a lot of people.

  • This is funny.... There is nothing wrong with outlet type stores but is the mall thinking about what they are really letting in the mall? Stores like Ross, TJ Max, Burkes, Marshall, are made to be in outlet malls or stand alone stores, they are not meant to be in a regular mall. They will now be bring in stores that sale clothing at super low prices that came from larger stores(clothing they were unable to sale to there customers).

Really, have you been to a Burkes? If you haven't you are not aware of what they carry. They carry the stuff that does not sale in stores like CATO, Sears, JC Penny's ect.... I was just in one the other day and saw more CATO and Sears clothing brands then anything else.

So is it smart to bring in a store that is going to be selling the same brand names as your larger department stores but for 75% off????

Sounds to me like stores like Sears, CATO, and Penny's should raise a fuss about a Burkes or TJ Max coming into "their" mall. Or they may be the next leaving :(.

  • I like outlet stores too. I love Ross. I've stocked my kitchen with some really great things from there.

  • Are you kidding? Outlet stores are great!!! I drive to Houston to shop at them.

  • I am so tired of Victoria not being able to draw in major names. Once again we are gaining two "garage sale" stores. Why do we always have to settle for 2nd best (discounted, outlet, factory seconds). Victoria reminds me of how Corpus used to be when all they had to offer was "Sunrise Mall". Thank goodness for them that they now have La Palmera.

  • I want my Old Navy and Gap back..........I do not want flea market clothes. The only place to go is realy Kohls. Come on! We are so full of restaurants and fast food I want to shop not eat!!!!!

    July 31, 2011 at 8:43 a.m.
  • Sounds more like a flea market than a mall. No name stores moving in, still will need to go out of town to do shopping.

    July 31, 2011 at 8:17 a.m.
  • Burke's oultlet and an ice cream shop?? This will make people come from all over and visit the mall? Not. I hope they have something better planned!!

Could you please get rid of the Hurricane Central thing on the home page?

It wasn't a hurricane anyway and it's gone now.
