One man was transported to Citizens Medical Center's emergency room for smoke inhalation after a fire in the 2700 block of Leary Lane on Saturday morning.
The Victoria Fire Department responded to an alarm at 12:55 a.m. and battled the fire until 4 a.m., according to Victoria Fire Department Battalion Chief Tracy Fox.
The family was initially displaced when approximately 25 percent of their house sustained fire or major smoke damage, Fox said.
Firefighters provided first aid to one of the family's cats, but two other pets died inside the home.
The other two people in the house were not seriously injured, Fox said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Fox said they think it started in one of the bedrooms in the house.
