  • From the story, "Trevino; Ramiro "Eddie" Salas, 28; Oscar Ramirez; and Jeff Roach were all accused of being in the car during the drive-by shooting that left Hunt dead, while Lamas was charged with not only ordering the shooting, but also providing them with the weapons necessary to do it and helping to hide evidence afterward."

I haven't been following the story of the trial and I have to wonder why the murder was ordered. I haven't heard of gang thugs specifically targeting ordinary citizens for murder without a reason -- at least one that makes sense to them. Was he in a rival gang or in the same gang but had done something to be targeted? I wish now I'd paid more attention to the entire trial.

  • A criminal gets better treatment than a veteran because the veteran does not have the ACLU ready to file suit on his behalf for every conceivable wrong, real or imagined, and to invent "rights" to which the criminal is entitled.

  • Oh and they also get free medication for the rest of their life. We have good people young and old in the United States that can not afford medication but our prisoners are well provided for. I can get on this soap box all day over the care the government gives prisoners over law abiding citizens. Our nation owes our elderly better care than they receive after all if it were not for them we would not have the nation we have. Its so sad a killer gets better treatment than a veteran!

  • They should have met the same fate as their victim. But NO lets just give them 3 meals a day, room and board, medical/dental care, a education, a spending allowance to go shopping in the comissary, use of a fully equipped exercise room, holiday's they get fed very well and are allowed off of their job duty and the right to have regular visits from family members where they usually munch down on junk food and sodas bought by family out of the vending machines they have inside the prison. This is for the rest of their life....That is probably a better life than they had before the killing. I should know because I worked for 6 years for the State as a prison nurse. Those guys get all those benefits and more. It's not fair! It's not JUSTICE!

  • GOP..."That will put a damper on their social calendar."

Nah...The Huntsville Hilton is like a family or class reunion. They'll be around people who are just like themselves and be eating three squares a day with a certain place to sleep, all courtesy of the Texas taxpayer. You know, I'll bet they won't even say thank you.

I like flyer's suggestion, but that won't happen because, you see, we're too civilized to do that. Look at California. They turning prisoners loose by the thousands because there are too many of them. Whatcha wanna bet that it won't be long before most of those turned loose will be back in the system and forcing out someone else to make room?

  • Why should we have to support these two pieces of trash in prison all of their life..........two fifty cent bullets make more sense.

  • I don't think it is suitable sentence or am I happy about the outcome. These bottom feeders will now be able to live longer lives than their victums--not what I call justice.
