Five people were injured in a three-car wreck on Farm-to-Market Road 616 and U.S. Highway 87 at 12:20 p.m. Thursday.
Three vehicles each containing two Bloomington High School students were traveling east on FM 616 following graduation practice, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.
Rod Jackson, 18, was driving a white Nissan Altima. He pulled out to pass Ana Esquivel, 17, who was driving a white Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
Immediately after passing Ana, Rod noticed he was approaching his turn and slammed on his brakes, according to Trooper Stephen Gray's report. Ana took evasive action, swerved into the next lane striking John Hartley, 18, who driving a gold Mazda M6. He was attempting to pass Ana at that time.
The truck flipped twice, and the Mazda continued forward striking the Nissan, according to the report.
John and his passenger, Jesus Bargas, 18; Ana and her passenger, Brianba Cadrera, 18; and Rod were all transported to Citizens Medical Center.
No citations were issued, but the wreck remained under investigation, Bryant said.
