Ask Chuck: Brighter Grays Bring Brighter Days
By Chuck Colson
I have noticed lately that my gray hair is yellowing, is there a temporary or permanent solution to correct this?
Yes, both temporary and permanent solutions are available. For temporary means, you can apply an ultra white weekly color rinse over your hair before styling it. It will easily combine with any setting lotions you prefer. If you desire a more silver tone, apply a deeper silver lining rinse. These rinses do shampoo out easily, so they will need to be applied each time you style your hair. There are over-the-counter shampoos with bluing added to minimize yellowing. For a more permanent effect, you can always find the same colors in permanent tints. These tints are much more effective and never rub off or become discolored. If you desire just to have your gray hair to appear highlighted, apply the palest blonde tint and it will take on an amazing sheen and gold highlights. Brighter gray brings brighter days.
I recently moved to Victoria. Like always, it is difficult to find a good hairdresser. What is a fair amount of time I should give them to get it right?
You are so right. As the saying goes, anywhere we move it has always been a gamble to find a good hairdresser and doctor. I believe the best and fairest solution for this is when a lady once said I had six months to get it right with her hair. That way she said we would both learn each other's favorite techniques and both would be comfortable to stay together. Every hairdresser deserves more than one chance since the client has lived with his or her hair the longest and knows what it will or will not do. A tremendous bond can take place when both work together. I have been fortunate to have some clients who have been with me nearly 50 years.
Is there a significant difference between physical therapy, massage therapy and chiropractic techniques?
Most definitely. Together, they complement each other. Physical therapy deals with joint movements and range of motion, chiropractors work with the spinal chord functions and problems while massage therapists work with the muscles attached to each of these body mechanics. Miracles have happened using these combined services. We are all proud that many doctors now endorse their health benefits.
