Bloomington graduates excited about their future
June 3, 2011 at 1:03 a.m.
Emotions ran high Friday evening at Bloomington High School.
Several members of the graduating class were involved in a major wreck Thursday evening. The class of 2011 had another reason to be grateful - their classmates were with them.
"This is a fun time, not sad," said Ana Esquivel, who was also in the wreck. And with her pearly whites showing, the salutatorian screamed, "We finally made it!"
As the seniors began their graduation walk, from the cafeteria to the auditorium, some took a trip down memory lane.
"We'll never sit in this classroom again, you guys. It's been 12 years," said Jacklyn Guerra.
Family and friends looked at the graduates with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Shortly after the processional played, 32 teenagers roared like Bobcats - their school mascot - in their emerald green gowns.
As Ana gave her speech, some of her friends began to cry. They began to realize this could be their last time together.
But Ana, the optimist, reassured them, "It's not goodbye. It's more like I'll facebook you later."
We asked graduates the question "What are you the most excited about for your future?"
