Larry Todd Hicks, 36, of Ganado, remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston after a wreck a week ago involving his motorcycle and a Jackson County Sheriff's Office patrol car, a hospital spokesperson said.
Complete details of the wreck remain under investigation, said Edna Police Chief Clinton Wooldridge.
At 5:40 p.m. on May 27 in the 600 block of Apollo Drive in Edna, Hicks' 2001 Honda motorcycle collided with a 2007 Ford Police Interceptor operated by Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy Joel Price, 44.
Hicks was taken by helicopter to the Houston hospital.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting the Edna Police Department in the investigation.

Nothing to see here, move along citizen...
July 1, 2011 at 12:30 p.m.We have put in an open-records request for the full report. We will write a follow-up story when we receive that.
The state allows public agencies to drag their feet on such requests for obviously open records. If you want the legislature to put more teeth in the state's open records and open meetings laws, please contact your legislator.
June 12, 2011 at 8:51 a.m.will vicad ever update this story ?
sounds like a cover up going on to me
June 12, 2011 at 8:28 a.m.waiting for updates
June 11, 2011 at 10:44 p.m.Are we to get the real truth to this story or is this another fox guarding the chicken house?
June 7, 2011 at 8:24 p.m.someone probably has to get their story straight
June 5, 2011 at 1 a.m.There has to be more to this story than they want to let out. If the guy on the motorcycle was at fault believe me the law enforcement would have made that clear and would have issued a statement to that fact. But when its on their foot they mum up and dont make comments.....
June 5, 2011 at 12:53 a.m.I hope this doesnt become a financial burden on the injured if its found to be the officers fault the state should take up responsibility immediately!!
June 4, 2011 at 4:21 p.m.word on the street is that it was the deputy who intentionally crashed into Hicks.
June 4, 2011 at 3:06 p.m.Inquirer, it may or may not be as you say,,,but what occurs to me is the fact, that of the many accident stories that we read daily in the Advocate, the investigator is always very quick to point out who is at fault, No?
This the second story relating to the terrible injuries suffered by this young man, and yet the cause of the accident has not been mentioned by the Department. It is guranteed that if indeed the accident was caused by the motorcyclist it would have been printed immediately.
Doesn't an accident that involves personal injury of a very serious nature now require the mandatory screening of the person at fault for alcohol or drugs?
Maybe this has caused the delay of the release of details.
Quien Sabe...
Prayers for both involved.
June 4, 2011 at 12:36 p.m.I sincerely hope that the deputy involved was not "running hot" to some low-level call or something like that. Innocent motorists are injured all too often in situations like that. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mr. Hicks.
June 4, 2011 at 10:33 a.m.Hang in there Todd! We are thinking about you! we luv ya!
