GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - Park officials say a man is recovering from serious injuries after falling about 2,000 feet in Grand Teton National Park.
Park officials say 39-year-old Jesse Stover, of Jackson, and two friends had intended to summit Teewinot Mountain and ski down its east face Saturday, but Stover slipped about 500 feet from the top.
A wilderness emergency medical technician who saw the fall called 911 and helped Stover until more help arrived.
During the rescue, a small wet avalanche came down the gully where Stover was stranded, but rescuers moved him out of harm's way with the help of two avalanche spotters higher up on the peak.
The Bridger-Teton National Forest avalanche report rated the avalanche danger on Saturday as moderate to considerable.
