Faith Academy completed its 2010-11 athletic year top performances from its track and field team, which won several gold medals at the TAPPS 1A/2A state meet, and a girls basketball team that lost just three games en route to its first state tournament berth.

Here is a rundown of each sport for the Cougars this year:

Record: 23-14 (TAPPS 2A bi-district finalist)

COACH: Suzanne Valenzuela

Haley Thomas notched 15 service points, and the Lady Cougars forced a tie atop TAPPS District 8-2A with its 25-14, 25-17, 25-8 win over Southwest Christian to close out the regular season.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GIRLS BASKETBALL

RECORD: 36-3 (TAPPS 2A state semifinalist)

COACH: Daryl Burns

A talented group led by seniors Mande Driggers and Emily Graff, the Lady Cougars beat Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills 46-41 after two early round blowouts to earn their first state tournament berth.

BASEBALL

3-18 (missed playoffs)

COACH: Jason Driver

KEY MOMENT: After allowing a run to San Antonio St. Gerard in the top of the seventh, the Cougars rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the win, 15-14.

SOFTBALL

13-11 (TAPPS 1A/2A area finalist)

COACH: Chris Sauceda

KEY MOMENT: The Lady Cougars clinched a playoff berth and wrapped up second place in district with a 17-3 rout at Highlands Chinquapin.

TRACK AND FIELD

STATE GOLD MEDALS: Emily Graff, 3200-meter dash; Kamri Hardeman, long jump Faith Burns, Ashley Tyau, Mande Driggers and Emily Graff, 1,400-meter relay.

KEY MOMENT: Thomas, Driggers, Tyau and Graff combined to keep Shiner St. Paul, a district rival who they had battled with every step of the way in the relay, to earn a gold medal in the event.
