VICTORIA COUNTY UNITED WAY

The Victoria County United Way has named its board officers and campaign committee chairman for 2011.

Russell Janecka will be chairman of the 2011 campaign.

Janecka, a Victoria native, graduated from Victoria High School, served in the U.S. Air Force Security Service in Berlin, Germany, earning the USAF Commendation Medal. While overseas, he began his business education through the University of Maryland and later attended Victoria College. He joined his family's independent insurance agency in 1986.

"We will do what Victorians have always done, demonstrate a quiet confidence, a stubborn strength that will not let us fail and be remarkably generous in giving of our time, talents and gifts," Janecka said in a news release.

The 2011 campaign kicks off with its second annual Day of Caring on August 30.

The newly elected board of directors includes Gary Worsham, Wells Fargo Bank, president; Terry Robinson, Hospice of South Texas, secretary; Greg Sprawka, First Victoria National Bank, treasurer; Jennifer Yancy, Victoria College, vice president, community investment; Janecka, Janecka Insurance, vice president, campaign; Kelly Park, First Victoria National Bank, immediate past board president.

The Victoria County United Way is overseen by a 47-member board of directors, including an 11-member executive committee. These groups are comprised of a diverse group of volunteers who are representative of donors (large and small), corporations and sponsors, civic leaders and other participants.
