SEGUIN - Texas Lutheran University sophomore Megan Carmichael has been named to the American Southwest Conference Winter/Spring 2010-11 Distinguished Scholar Athlete Team in softball.

The honor recognizes athletes who achieve a grade-point average of 3.20 or better while competing as a starter or important reserve on their team.

One nominee per school is chosen in each sport and the team is determined by a vote of the conference's sports information directors.

Carmichael, a Yoakum graduate, had a 9-11 record with a 2.35 ERA. She pitched 16 complete games and had a no-hitter against Southwestern in the season opener.

Carmichael is a business and accounting major and has a GPA of 3.63.
