Ask Chuck: Mirror mirror on the wall, is it your call?

My best friend has the best head of hair and her hair style is always perfect. I've tried many times to get my hair just like hers and it never happens. Is it my hair, my hairdresser or what?

Hairstyles should be customized for each individual. An attractive hairstyle is one that encompasses facial features, personality and stature. Therefore, what looks good on one person, may not fit another. Wouldn't it be boring if we all looked the same? A hairstyle may be 25-years-old, but still looks very attractive on the person. Making hair do something it doesn't want to do makes it obvious that the style is not quite right. Choose a style that your hair likes to do, and then others will become envious of you. The best hairstyles should complement you from head to toe.

I am in my 60s, and I have always wanted to dye my hair cold black. Be honest Chuck, am I too old for this dream?

If you have an attractive olive complexion, beautiful eyes and can wear makeup well, there is a good chance it will be very becoming to you. I do have a client who fits these characteristics so well, her black hair actually takes 10 years away from her age. For added sophistication, use a contrast of a perfectly white streak just in the front and try to handle all the compliments coming your way. This, of course, is as attractive using other solid colors of dyes. This is when hair coloring becomes customized.

I have read where massage therapy enhances our well being. Is this true or did someone just make it up?

There is much more truth than fiction to this. Massage therapy affects our mind, body and souls to the extent that when we experience it, we quickly realize many health benefits. Whether for men or women, we finally take time out for ourselves. A perfect balance for us all is to be equally good takers and givers. Massage therapy is what therapists call preventive maintenance. So, give yourself a gift, and open your world to better health.

Can kids benefit from massage treatments?

Young children do suffer from aches, pains and headaches alike. Sometimes, little problems become big to them. They too want to feel normal and OK. One or both parents should always accompany them to each treatment. They will love you more because you cared.
