It is always fun to read community comments. It is obvious some get it and others do not....this is not uncommon because all are not informed. From an outsider looking in, I cannot tell you and the community at large how fortunate Victoria is to have VEDC. Although I do not live in your community, I hear how professional your Victoria group is and how well they respond and follow up on leads/projects. Economic Development is a long-term business, and this Caterpillar location is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the community. The rest of the world is jealous and would love to get what you have; and I'm talking both the plant, the jobs and the people responsible for getting the plant to locate in Victoria! Good luck, and count your blessings!
pilot: I drove by the site yesterday and the west wall is already up.
The CAT factory is happening and it is a shot in the arm of Victoria economy. That factory alone will bring in millions in colatteral(sp) income from other subsidiary (sp) businesses. Just what we needed. 600 local jobs is a good thing. Go CATERPILLER!

structure is already going up and cement is being poured.
True: Caterpilla accepted a couple of billons dollors of Obama stimulas money for the purpose of re investing (on public record).True: Obama haters love to say that the economic stimulas package has not created one single job.Jobs speak for themselves.True Obama haters will find a way to put their personal feelings ahead of a community success.
WOW, what a GREAT announcement from Caterpillar !!!!
I really hope VEDC is going hard after all Caterpillar vendors.
I wish Caterpillar would post some Victoria jobs on their careers website...
I recall some article or perhaps news broadcast that said interested applicants should visit the Texas Workforce Commission in Victoria.
This is good news, all of it. Demand for homes will go up, restaurant business will pick up, the whole economic impact will be substantial, no doubt.
Cat could have gone to China or Mexico and saved a bunch of money, but they did not. Why?
Has anyone noticed what's been happening in China and Mexico lately? Caterpillar is bringing production back home. When was the last time you saw a label or stamp that said "Made In U.S.A."?
Maybe the cheapest deal isn't always the best deal and Cat knows it, or perhaps corporate has a conscience, or maybe both.
Thanks to the company and all local representatives. This is great news.

Click Agree and do a basic search. However, at this time no jobs for the Victoria operation have been posted on their website.

Good news for Victoria! Job well done. Thanks Caterpillar for choosing to invest more in the US in general and here in particular!
Heard at a local coffee shop, "How many people do it take to herd cattypillers?"
Thank you VEDC for a job very well done. Every job at the site may create up to 4 others of site.
