  • From a business’s point of view, the BBB seems to be a legal version of a protection racket – if a consumer files a complaint with the BBB against a non-member business, then the BBB will tell other consumers about it; however, if a consumer has a complaint against a member business of the BBB, then the BBB seems to go to bat to try to keep that business’s record clean.

So, if the BBB resolves a complaint between a member business and a consumer, it will probably never report the complaint to other consumers, but apparently there is no such service for non-members – sort of like a protection racket. My business has a clean record with the BBB because I resolve my own problems before they escalate to the point where someone would report to the BBB.

Of course, my information comes from the seemingly unethical sales tactics of the BBB where they promise to help resolve any complaints against my company to keep my record clean no matter how many complaints I get. It just seemed like a protection scheme – instead of beating me up, they just imply threats that could potentially affect my business’s reputation.

  • It's important that a company is reliable, and the BBB helps ensure that. When their products do not live up to your standards it can be frustrating. Sometimes I need a place to get my anger out and tell other people about my issues; to vent. Then I found a site that not only lets me vent, but allows other people to see it and come up with funny paybacks. The responses are so funny! Check it out here.
