  • Momof2...You never know when you'll need more people for the situation than the two in the ambulance. Victoria sends them as a matter of routine in case they're needed. Car wrecks especially benefit from extra people. If they're needed, it is better to have them on scene than have to call for them. If they're not needed, all the city is out is a couple gallons of diesel fuel.

  • @momof2

If there is an EMS call in a part of town where the ambulance is already out then a fire truck with EMTs and or Paramedics is sent to start treating the patient till an ambulance from another part of town can get there. Then there are some medical emergencies that will need more then just the two men or women on an ambulance.

  • Another thing my husband and I have wondered about is why anytime an ambulance is called, a fire truck goes along, as well? We have seen this several times at stores where it is someone having a heart attack or not feeling well and EMS is called. Anyone know the answer.

  • Good job VicAd for policing my post.

Looks like we have a fire chief that cares about the tax payers and the fire fighters. Not just him self.

    @ pecos

It will take some time for the new chief to make the changes department new it needed but couldnt with the old chief.

  • It would be benefical to quit running a 700K piece of fire equipment to EMS calls. Prior to merging the EMS ran a supervisor in a 30K vehicles as backup.
