A bit of celebrity sparkle and nuptial know-how is on its way to the Crossroads.

Nationally-known wedding planner and reality TV personality David Tutera will speak at the 2011 Victoria Bridal Expo.

The Aug. 21 event brings numerous vendors - everyone from caterers to photographers, coordinators and more - under one roof to help brides-to-be prepare for their special days, said Annette Franco, with Accent Designs By Annette.

Franco said she'd hoped to get Tutera involved in the expo for quite some time. This year, she teamed up with Suddenlink Communications, which carries his WEtv show, "My Fair Wedding," and other sponsors to make it happen.

"This is the highlight of my career right now," she said. "Mr. Tutera doesn't just pick anybody."

Tutera was named one of the Top 25 Trendsetters of The Year by Modern Bride Magazine, and Best Celebrity Wedding Planner by Life & Style Magazine, according to his website. He has planned events for celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, The Rolling Stones and Barbara Walters.

During the presentation, Tutera will discuss how to create a special wedding that tells the bride and groom's story, and will offer an inside look into "My Fair Wedding," he said in a written statement from his publicist, Eda Kalkay.

Tutera will also sign books and visit with some brides one-on-one, Franco said. He might also show styles from his wedding dress line.

In a written statement from his publicist, Tutera said he looks forward to his visit to Victoria as a chance to "be near the Gulf and to experience true Texan hospitality."

The bridal expo lasts from noon to 5 p.m. inside the Victoria Community Center dome.

Franco said the celebrity visit is good for the region.

"It's something that's going to happen in Victoria that hasn't happened in a long time," she said. "I think it's a good thing for everyone. Not just our brides."
