Recipients of the scholarship will enter The University of Texas-Austin in August. They will be recognized at the chapter's UTee it Up Golf Tournament on Saturday at Victoria Country Club. Bevo will be in attendance and will be available for pictures from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The number of scholarships and amount awarded is based on fundraising through the Victoria Area Texas Exes Chapter. Each of the 2011 Scholarship Winners will receive a $1,500 scholarship, plus tuition to attend Camp Texas, the Texas Exes summer camp for future Longhorn leaders.
Since 1991, the Victoria Area Texas Exes have raised more than $100,000 for deserving students attending U.T.
All chapter scholarship recipients will be presented with the scholarship at a dinner to be held in the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center on the University of Texas at Austin campus in September. This year the Texas Exes will award more than $2 million in scholarships to 716 students.
The Texas Exes was founded in 1885 to praise, promote, and protect the university. Today there are more than 90,000 members whom the association strives to connect to each other and to the past, present, and future of the university through career counseling, travel, reunions, continuing education, fellowship and The Alcalde magazine.
