2011's Victoria Livestock Show auction brought a financial boost, compared to 2010.
The Monday night auction, which officially brought the 2011 show to an end, brought in $509,950, said Teresa Moormon, the auction chair. That's about $30,000 more than in 2010.
Moormon attributed the increase to the local economy. With the oil and gas industry doing well, she said companies had more money to spend on participants and their animals.
"It was a huge success," she said of the auction, which lasted about six and half hours from 4 to about 10:30 p.m. "Even the stock show as a whole. We had great turnouts every day. It's been good."
While the official numbers are in, there is still time to provide add-ons for stock show participants, Moormon said. The deadline for add-ons is Friday.
