A police officer works at the scene of a collision at the intersection of Airline and Navarro Tuesday evening.

A woman and her two children were taken to the hospital after a wreck at the intersection of Navarro Street and Airline Road about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A Mercury Tracer driven by Steven Volcik, 17, of Victoria, was southbound on Navarro and attempted to turn left onto Airline Road, said Officer Sterling Kocian, with the Victoria Police Department.

Volcik had a solid green light and failed to yield to a northbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by Rachel Olvera, 35, of Victoria, Kocian said. Olvera and her 15-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter were taken by ambulance to Citizens Medical Center, Kocian said.

The mother and daughter were treated and released, and the son was still being evaluated Tuesday night, said a hospital spokeswoman.

A back seat passenger in the Tracer was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered a cut to his head, Kocian said.

All others were wearing seatbelts, and no citations were issued Kocian said.
